Torben Kuhlmann was born in Germany in 1982. Highly creative as a young child, Torben was recognized as early as kindergarten for being a gifted draftsman. He was captivated by small airplanes, strange machines, and steaming trains; these elements made their way into his drawings. He studied illustration and design at the Hamburg University for Applied Sciences. His preferred media are pen and watercolor. He also works with acrylics, oil paints, and digital programs. He works as a freelance illustrator in Hamburg. His books Lindbergh: The Tale of a Flying Mouse, Moletown, and Armstrong—The Adventurous Journey of a Mouse to the Moon quickly became best sellers and owe their inventiveness to Torben’s great enthusiasm for unusual mechanical inventions. Good Needed for adult
For Sister Good quality and the book.
Great story with wonderful images As always, the images in this book are breathtaking. My daughter really loves it
Libros Un libro ideal para los chicos, bastante explicativo y la línea del tiempo bien desarrollada. Muy recomendado
Fantastic book! Illustrations and little history lesson ! To say I am impressed by this author is to say nothing. The illustrations are some of the best artwork I've seen. The story is very engaging , educational and interesting for child 4 years old and up ( read it to 4.5 year old about 20 times now). This is a fantastic book from modern days writer/illustrator, and given how many books for young children now are just beyond awful, this was a rare find. I bought other books from the same author. It is very disappointing that this author and some other very talented writers and their books are never mentioned in any "top" / "recommended" literature charts and list for children, but instead there are about 50 Pete the cat books, that would take about 2 minutes to write and have zero plot/story and ugly illustrations, as a top read for your child. Highly recommend to purchase books of this writer. They are keepers and the ones that kids will keep coming back to over and over. And illustrations are beyond gorgeous.
Gorgeous art, clever story I bought this book for my 5 yr old grandson (well all 3 of the mouse adventures), and they are simply wonderful. The art is gorgeous, the story is clever and delightful. My grandson will love them, I have no doubt. I love how the story weaves the mouse's adventures with historical information. It inspires inventiveness at the same that it provides a history of invention. All within the endearing story of an inventive, brave, and adventurous mouse. There is excitement, failures, and successes. I highly recommend these books.
Beautifully Illustrated and a fun story. I enjoyed reading this fun, imaginative story and often pick it up to thumb through the wonderful illustrations. I am always amazed at Torben Kuhlmann’s creative genious. I am hopelessly caught up in these mouse adventures. I never imagined being interested in these topics he chooses, but I love a good mouse story and now learning some history! I hope Mr. Kuhlmann will continue to write and illustrate more historical children's picture books.
Beautiful, lovely book! Captivating illustrations, especially for book lovers! I was drawn to this book because of the amazing illustrations of books and an old-fashioned library (with card catalog and everything!) I was smiling the entire time I was reading this and taking in the gorgeous pictures. I'm excited to give it to my cousin's kids for Christmas and read it with them too!
Nicely detailed and quality printing Yet another great adventure for a little mouse to make a big move. I love the detailed art of the book. It is definitely of the same level in terms of story and art as the previous books by the same author. The story behind the pictures is not very sofisticated, however, it is easy to understand by 5-7 y/olds. My child and my friend’s child adore the book.
Cute twist on history for animal lovers. This is a cute book that young readers (of any age) will enjoy. Taking a few liberties with history in which a mouse takes center stage in key events kids are introduced to historical events. The illustrations alone make this an excellent choice to give as a gift or keep on your own shelf. The book has a good size to it making the illustrations easy to share if you are reading this one aloud and holing it up to share to the surrounding listeners.
