From the only journalist to have travelled with him, an up-close look at the rising star of Latin American politics --Este texto se refiere a la edición kindle_edition .. The fascinating Bolivian president Evo Morales is vying with the brash and provocative leader of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, to be the most influential figure in South American politics today. Since coming into office four years ago, Morales has been intensely critical of the United States, speaking out against the drug war at the United Nations and implementing socialist programs at home, including the nationalization of British Petroleum holdings and other foreign investments. And he has reached out to America's political enemies, including Cuba and Iran.Based on personal interviews and unprecedented access, Sivak traces the rise of Morales from his humble origins in a family of migrant workers to his youth as union organizer and explosion onto the national stage.
Excellent book Seeing Morales on the world stage, I wondered about his background. This book is a great behind-the-scenes view of someone we are quite likely to see more of.
exelent we love it thank you is very good exelent we love it thank you
The only book on EVO you'll find If you know anything about the politics of Bolivia this will fascinate you because someone actually wrote a book on Evo. While the events of Evo are well documented, the true philosophy and vision he possesses are not articulated as well as I would have liked. The opulence that surround US politicos are definitely not found in Bolivia. Where will Evo lead Bolivia if he promises people equality, but pushes out the industry that may allow them to obtain a salary? Is there a balance between a movement toward socialism and accepting the status quo of foreign industry and the structure it has built? Time will tell.
Lively in depth look at unusual leader of Bolivia Fun to read. Makes you feel you are with author trailing around with Morales. Shows changes that can be made with different leadership. Has depth and is written in a lively style. Highly recommended.
Great book to know Bolivian History and Evo Morales Great book! It really helps to gain insight of Bolivia and the circunstances that gave rise to Evo's government. Great
