Anne-Sophie Baumann studied science and literature before becoming an editor and author. She lives near Paris, France. Didier Balicevic studied at ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Strasbourg. He lives near Paris, where he works in publishing.. The internationally successful Ultimate Book series expands its scope to embrace-very appropriately-the whole world! The Ultimate Book of Planet Earth offers lots of opportunity for hands-on interaction using flaps, tabs, pop-ups, and more! Pull a tab to see how magma erupts from a volcano, turn a page for a giant pop-up of a mountain range, or rotate a wheel to move the blades of a wind turbine! This book explores not only the geology of the Earth-oceans, continents, and the formation of mountains and volcanoes-but also its geography, atmosphere, and weather. A valuable reference book for any child!
Fabulous mechanical/pop up book. A beautifully put together moving book. My class will love pouring over this book with all of its up to date (first published in 2019) information. The pop ups have been well thought through to aid the understanding of how the earth has developed over millions of years. There are pages in this book which touch on the topics of: plate tectonics, earthquakes, mountains, volcanoes, clouds, water cycle, coastal erosions, fossils, human and animal evolution, solar system with clear diagrams for night, day, lunar movement and seasons, renewable and non renewable sources of energy. Great for 7-11 year olds. Well worth the money. The pop ups are strong and seem very durable. However, as with all books of this type, I know my class will need to be taught how to handle it respectfully before allowing them to get their hands on it. The only pop up page I’m not so keen on is the one about clouds as the pop up needs to be supported by the reader, however this really doesn’t detract from what is otherwise a really fabulous book.
Interactive Book with Great Content My 4 year old son loves this book. It has interactive features engaging him all the time. Contents are great even though some of them are still hard to understand for him. The only down side is the moving parts are not solid enough for young kids. They need supervision at first to read this book.
Amazing Content. Too big. The book is amazing. My 3 yr old niece loves it and has made her inquisitive and curious about the planet. However, I would recommend this for 5+ year kids as its too big for younger ones to read on their own. And if thats not a problem you should definitely get it. Kudos to the author for such a great content.
