My ninth Nora Roberts Nora Roberts' books are enhancing and ruining my life in equal measures. Enhancing because her character decorators, gardeners and furniture builders have inspired me to get off my lazy ass and do some stuff in my own house. I literally assembled my bed frame which had been waiting for me to pay it some attention for 3 months, just because a character in the previous Nora Roberts was assembling hers (she had help from a sexy man however...not fair). On the downside Nora's books are ruining my life as I cant keep my nose out of them the rest of the time. I'll be found, withered to my bones, having face planted my Kindle, exhausted from all the reading. I loved Zod by the way. I'm normally a cat person but I want to take all the dogs home from Nora's novels.
Loved it!!! It dropped in my kindle and I sat down to read it and stayed there till I finished (took it to kitchen and bathroom with me too). I had worked out who the second bad guy was a good way before the end because there was only one person it could have been. I loved all the good guys and was sorry when it finished, but I am now going to read it all again. I have all Nora Roberts on my kindle and J D Robb and read them all through again in between other authors. I love Nora Roberts and think she is the best author on planet Earth!
A fabulous read.😀😀 This was the best book I've read in a while. Hooked me from the start right to the last page. There was passion, nail-biting tension, humour, a great sense of family and some scary bits too. All in all, this is Nora at her best.
Nora Roberts scores another hit. Nora Roberts always writes a good book, but this one is Un-Put-Downable. It begins with a brother and sister who have an abusive father and a mother who supports him and follows their lives onward. I don't want to spoil the plot, but this book is going to stay in my collection. I'll definitely be going back to it.
A good coming out of evil I love Nora Roberts books. This was good but not one of the best of hers I’ve read. The domestic violence and abuse at the start set the scene for the rest of the story. The main characters were likeable and I was glad that things turned out well for them in the end. I felt that the story would have been enough just to focus on them and their escape and recoveries from their own abusers. As you would expect there was a lot of violence in this book which was necessary to tell the story, but I felt the additional storyline with the Drapers added more violence that wasn’t needed and the story could have gone on just as well without this. There would have been plenty enough drama if the story had just kept to Zane and Darby’s story.
Good but not her best Read in just over 4 hours. Good but not one of her best. I figured out at about 60% through who the villain was. If obvious to me, why not to the central characters? Liked the main characters, one of Nora’s strengths is creating believable people whom you imagine could be your friends, and localities where you’d be happy to live, heroes you’d like to meet and heroines you’d like to be. The plot building however rose and sank until for me there was only one credible villain, that this wasn’t considered by the hero, heroine or local police stretches the boundaries of credibility.
The monsters wore masks I loved this book and the way that it had so many dramas, and yet had a lot of humour mixed in with the suspense. I was enthralled by the characters who were many faceted and complex. Nora has a way of getting under the skin of her characters which can make them feel like old friends. Zane and Darby had both endured physical abuse by the people who should have loved and protected them, but together they were whole again.
Usual Nora Roberts standards This is the first book that I've managed to read all the way through since my daughter was born over 4 years ago. It's typical Nora Roberts in you know who's going to end up together and you have a pretty good idea who the bad guy was going to turn out to be from around half way through the book. But her writing is such that this didn't bother me at all, I was happy to keep on reading to be proved correct.
Loved this This book is written in two parts - the first when the main character is young - which I loved. I really felt for him and his sister. The second part when he has grown and although I liked this as well - I felt it was a bit more rushed than the first half. Saying that, I still loved this book, and I didn't care that I knew who the bad guy(s) were, it was still a good story.
Hooked on Norah Roberts all over again! Needed a break from the rather heavy stuff I'd been reading during lockdown, so chose this book as Norah Roberts is a writer I've enjoyed when I want something lighter to read. Characterisation good, story whipped along at a good pace, plus ad at the end for her next series, Chronicles of the One - and there I was, hooked on Norah Roberts all over again.
