Joel Salatin and his family own and operate Polyface Farm in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. The farm produces pastured beef, pork, chicken, eggs, turkeys, rabbits, lamb and ducks, servicing roughly 6,000 families and 50 restaurants in the farm's bioregion. He has written 11 books to date and lectures around the world on land healing, local food systems. --Este texto se refiere a la edición paperback.. Twenty years ago Joel Salatin wrote You Can Farm, which has launched thousands of farm entrepreneurs around the world. With another 20 years of experience under his belt, bringing him to the half-century mark as a full-time farmer, he decided to build on that foundation with a sequel, a graduate level curriculum.Everyone who reads and enjoys that previous work will benefit from this additional information. In those 20 years, Polyface Farm progressed from a small family operation to a 20-person, 6,000-customer, 50-restaurant business, all without sales targets, government grants, or an off-farm nest egg.As a germination tray for new farmers ready to take over the 50 percent of America's agricultural equity that will become available over the next two decades, Polyface Farm in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley stands as a beacon of hope in a food and farming system floundering in dysfunction: toxicity, pathogenicity, nutrient deficiency, bankruptcy, geezers, and erosion. Speaking into that fear and confusion, Salatin offers a pathway to success, with production, profit, and pleasure thrown in for good measure.
Fantastic Book, but read "You Can Farm" first! The most enjoyable and informational read I've found in a long time! Also my first Joel Salatin read. I'm one chapter away from finishing it and have loved every page! However this is definitely the sequel to "You Can Farm" not a recap at all! I've just ordered that one and expect it to be just as enjoyable and even more informative.
Profitable farming, on a budget. Want to get into farming? want to turn a profit on that piece of land your' sitting on? Well, Joel has some answers for YOU! Complete info, with how to do it, and how to make it work for you. Plus it's an interesting read.
An excellent read A really good book that every farmer should read. I was laughing out loud in some places and I really enjoy Salatin’s writing. I wold recommend getting “you can farm”.
Informativ und Hilfreich Gutes Buch allerdings braucht man auch noch einige andere von Joel Salatin um alle Details zu erhalten. Ist in meinen Augen aber kein Nachteil weil das Thema nicht in ein einziges Buch passt.
Informative Valuable information provided. Enjoyable read.
Real advice for real farming! Excellent book for new and old farmers! The way farming should be taught and implemented!
Five Stars Great book.
Great book! I go this for my husband for Easter, he loves to watch all of Joel Salatin's videos. I thought he was going to cry when he opened it. He was so excited and I don't know if I can handle one more..."well Joel Salatin says...". I think he is my husbands man-crush and he loves the book.
Another great Salatin educational source! Awesome. Very complete. Its not just the tangible needs of being in business but the emotional and spiritual and mental. Its about skills and passions. Great book!
